EXPUNGEMENT LAW
An Expungement is the sealing of records  that apply to arrest records, criminal charges that were filed, and court proceedings so they are not available except to the petitioner and criminal justice agencies as listed in the Oklahoma statutes.

In order to obtain an Expungement, a Petition and Order must be filed with the court clerk's office where the charges were filed indicating certain information including identification of the defendant, the court, and all of the law enforcement agencies involved.

How long is the Waiting Period?

Misdemeanor:  There is a one (1) year waiting period after you have completed a Deferred Sentence for a Misdemeanor.

Felony:  There is a five (5) year waiting period after you have completed a Deferred Sentence for a Felony.

An arrest record or criminal charge on your record can negatively impact your life and professional career. However, if certain criteria are met, an Expungement can clear your criminal record so past mistakes do not interfere with your future.

An Expungement also prevents you from having to face the embarrassment of a negative background check by prospective employer, lenders, and others.

An Expungement can result in better employment, a clearer path to a professional license, and peace of mind.
